The TENx Exhibition is for the Grade 10's personal project exhibition. For this unit, we had to design many different aspects of the event, such as invitations, posters, brochures, table layout, etc. Our client was Mr. Jordan who is the MYP coordinator.
1) Creativity and innovation
Organising a successful event requires originality and commitment. We all applied knowledge to generate new ideas, products and process. Our entire invitation is an original work of group expression, because we put a lot of thought into it and realised that it was different from other invitations before if we incorporated school colours and such into the invitation, brochures, etc.
2) Communication and collaboration
One of the main steps in doing so is to work collaboratively with others. As one of the inquiry question points state "communication increases creativity" - this entire unit required us to generate new ideas and come up with an original design as a group. It was hard to communicate with 30 other people, especially if we are divided into two classes. We listened to everyone's opinions and ideas and tried to incorporate them in some way into the planning. Also we were separated into different teams and each of us had to contribute in some way to produce original works or solve problems.
3) Research and information fluency
This unit required a lot of research, mostly primary sources, especially from people who have done this exact thing in the past. We needed to know what it takes to make a successful exhibition.
4) Critical thinking, problem solving and decision making
We all had our own responsibilities so that we're able to make the most of our time and be as productive as we can.
5) Digital citizenship
We had also advertised our event on Facebook under Northbridge's name. I was the one who created the event and feel as though I have exhibited leadership for digital citizenship.
6) Technology operations and concepts
Once we have finally settled on a table layout, we used Google Sketch Up to create a 3D floor layout. This required great use of understanding of technology systems.
